Award-winning Avenue Bookstore will be celebrating 25 years in 2011! One of Australia’s best independent bookshops, Avenue is located in the heart of Albert Park village and is a favourite local haunt, as well as a destination store for customers further afield. Avenue staff are great readers who love a challenge: special gifts, obscure titles, personalised picks or book club recommendations are all in a day’s work! We carry an extensive range of select local and imported books with a strong focus on the best new books and vital backlist titles in all categories. We stock a great range of air-freighted magazines; offer greeting cards for every occasion; and carry Moleskine and Poco Profile journals and diaries, as well as exquisite and quirky stationery items. Our specialist children’s booksellers have created a wonderful collection of picture books, junior and young adult titles from around the world, as well as great children’s gift ideas. Avenue Bookstore’s art and design mezzanine is a haven for those interested in art, architecture, design, photography and fashion and our staff can offer guidance and advice in these areas. Avenue Bookstore prides itself on a high level of customer service and if you can’t find what you need on our shelves, we are always happy to help you locate and order tricky titles. We offer fast and efficient special orders, with regular air-freights from US and UK suppliers. Our seasonal Reading Guide offers advance information on the best new releases. This complimentary guide is available in-store or can be mailed to you. Author visits are a regular treat at Avenue Bookstore. We have hosted some of Australia’s most prominent authors, as well as local favourites and we regularly invite visiting international authors in-store. Past visitors have included Kate Grenville, Kate Atkinson, Lionel Shriver, Alan Hollinghurst, Michelle de Kretser, Peter Carey, David Mitchell, Meg Rosoff, Li Cunxin, Chris Cleave, Helen Garner, Andrew Fraser and Geraldine Brooks.
